Ticks and Fleas

There are a couple of things that you can do to prevent your Dane from suffering at the hands of bugs and critters, otherwise known as parasites.

Ticks are very common in Dubai, camel ticks are the most prevalent and are known to latch onto larger animals. You can protect your Dane by administering a spot-on solution to the back of the neck once a month. "Frontline" is a well known and easy accessible spot on available from most veterinary clinics or pet shops. As well as preventing ticks it also protects your Dane from fleas too. Although fleas are not prevalent there have been cases of fleas reported to various veterinary clinics.......prevention is better than cure, protect your Dane

Worms

Worming tablets are absolutely essential for all dogs. Intestinal worms are common especially roundworms. Roundworms can pose a threat to humans. The life cycle of a worm is such that they can live inside a dog for a long time if not eliminated by worming tablets. They can damage the intestines and cause severe health problems for your Dane. Preventing worms from causing a problem for your Dane is very easy to do, worming tablets can be given by yourself in a piece of sausage, meat or treat, the number of tablets given is subject to the weight of your Dane, so ensure you know the weight of your dog before asking for tablets. Most tablets need to be given every 3 months, but do check with your vet in the first instance.
